Chastidy Charlotte Rodríguez, a 35-year-old mother of Dominican descent, was found dead inside a vehicle in downtown Miami, alongside a man identified as Darius Coon, who was also deceased.
Both had multiple gunshot wounds.
The discovery occurred on the morning of Saturday, July 19, inside a truck parked at number 230 Northeast 4th Street, in Downtown Miami, as confirmed by the Police Department.
Rodríguez lived in New York but had traveled to Miami for work reasons, where she was working as a dancer in a nightclub. She was reported missing by friends and family after she did not respond to phone calls.
Her friend Francheska Martínez recounted that she was the last person to speak with her, shortly before 2:30 AM on Thursday.
“I knew that someone from Detroit was coming that she was expecting… she met that person at one of the clubs where she worked,” she stated in an interview with Telemundo 51.
"What I really had was practically two days spent with that person," she added.
The disappearance prompted an intense search by her loved ones. Her brother, Randy Parra, flew in from New York hoping to find her alive.
He was the one who confirmed the devastating news after contacting the family of Darius Coon, who had also been reported missing in Detroit.
"We received a message saying that they found the car with two bodies," he recounted.
Preliminary information indicates that both bodies showed multiple gunshot wounds, although authorities have not yet revealed a possible motive for the crime.
The police are investigating the possibility that a third party is involved, as it is not believed that Coon was responsible for Rodríguez's death.
"We want justice and the reasons," expressed the victim's brother in statements to Univision.
Friends and family of Rodríguez, who had recently moved to Miami, described her as a cheerful person dedicated to her son. "She was a great mother; she was a good mother to my nephew," her brother recalled.
During a mass held in his honor in New York, his loved ones sought answers.
The homicide detectives of the Miami Police are actively investigating the case.
