The Cuban presenter Frank Abel announced this Friday his voluntary resignation from the show Destino Tolk and his retirement from the media, due to facing a complex personal phase that includes health issues, a legal process in immigration court, and new developments in his personal life.
“A result of everything that has happened, a result of my discharge from the hospital, due to what many media outlets that want to distort the truth, that want to crush someone, and I still don’t understand why, I decided to take a break,” said the announcer.
“First, I am very close to the court, I spoke with you and told you I couldn't, my nerves won't allow me to come and record with the worry I have. Second, I am receiving medical attention. Third, this is a job that I am passionate about and love, but I need to take some time with my family for genuine support (...) I need my family, I am going to face a very tough court process, there will not be a deportation thanks to God because I have been in this country for over three years and I have no other issues. I am currently in treatment and I am temporarily stepping back from the cameras,” Frank Abel explained.
Destino has not in any way suggested that I could leave here. To be more honest, I decided to step away from the media for a while and Destino, together with the entire team, has acknowledged that not only can I return whenever I wish, but I also know that there is a possibility for me to continue creating content from afar,” he stated.
Among his reasons for taking a break from the spotlight, Frank Abel also emphasized the need to focus on his family and a new personal chapter: “Additionally, I am going to marry someone who has become my life partner; that person does not live in the state of Florida and I will be moving with that person to start a life that I haven’t had in a long time, which is my sentimental life.”
Frank Abel emphasized that he is retiring from the artistic world and is not going to another platform: “I want to retire, I’m the one who wants to take some time for myself, I’m the one who wants to escape from the bad news that comes from bad people, I’m the one who wants to flee from the falsehood that these people cause in the media, I want to rest, I have spent 25 years in radio and television.”
The Dominican presenter Destino Positivo emphasized that Frank Abel continues to be part of the project and that the doors of the program will remain open for him when he decides to return. He added personally that Frank Abel earned both his affection and respect, as well as that of his family.
