Cuban reggaeton artists Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13 surprised the residents of Centro Habana this Thursday by filming part of a new music video on top of a yellow school bus in the middle of the street, surrounded by a crowd of fans.
The images from the filming, which quickly circulated on social media, show both artists on the vehicle stopped in the middle of a narrow street, surrounded by young people, neighbors, and onlookers, many of whom are recording with their phones. The scene, filled with energy and urban chaos, reflects the impact that both performers have on the youth audience within the island.
The incident occurs amid a growing controversy surrounding the national tour of Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13, particularly after they were announced as part of the lineup for the official event "Rumbón Mayor" in Santiago de Cuba, where they would share the stage with Juan Guillermo Almeida, son of the late commander Juan Almeida Bosque. Their presence at state events has sparked harsh criticism from the Cuban exile community and among many users on social media.
After the criticism, the reggaeton artists decided to reschedule their concert for July 27, avoiding a clash with the official celebrations on the 26th, a symbolic date for the Cuban regime. While some viewed this maneuver as an attempt to distance themselves from the official apparatus, others believe it is inadequate.
Despite the criticism, the duo continues to gain popularity on the island and is making headlines with their visit.
