The music producer Roberto Ferrante, CEO of Planet Records, sparked controversy on social media by posting a private message on Instagram directed at Bebeshito—the stage name of Oniel—in which he describes him as “the greatest Cuban artist of all time,” surpassing legends like Benny Moré and Celia Cruz.

The comment comes hours after the reggaeton artist sold out the Kaseya Center in Miami this past Saturday, one of the city's most important venues, where he gathered thousands of fans for a massive concert.

In a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat, Ferrante congratulates the singer on "the great success" of the previous night and claims that his greatness surpasses that of historical figures, both present and past.

Accompanying the image, Ferrante wrote a text in Spanish, Italian, and English, anticipating criticism for his statement:

"I know that criticism will rain down now, but I couldn't care less. I feel the need to publicly express what I think about this artist of mine: a bit rebellious, but undoubtedly visionary and historic."

The post quickly generated a flood of comments, with opinions very much divided. Some users praised the producer's words. However, the majority were critical.

Several people questioned the comparison with historical figures of Cuban music. “What a lack of respect for the career and history of Celia and Benny, have some respect, please,” one pointed out. Others added: “Bebeshito is great, but Benny and Celia Cruz are on another level,” “You must have smoked something good, my man,” “You’re just burnt out, fried like a potato,” “I find it exaggerated, more than Celia and Benny Moré, please not that”, “Hey, have some respect for Celia Cruz and Benny Moré,” and “I love Bebeshito a lot, but not like this.” There were also those who compared: “As if he were Michael Jackson” or requested “some respect, we’re talking about cultural heritage, not just a list of urban music.”

Other comments were more cutting: "For as long as anyone can remember, every dog owner has believed that their dog is the best. With substances, stimulants, and free time, this guy has every right to talk this way," and "They will see horrors." Some joked, saying: "You're so annoying, man," or "This is how unnecessary controversies begin."

Amidst jokes, criticisms, and praise, Ferrante's post not only sparked an intense debate on social media but also made it clear that, for many, comparing Bebeshito to the legends of Cuban music remains an exaggerated claim that is hard to support.
