A dog in Havana became trapped on a rooftop after her owner passed away, and neighbors are seeking help to find her a foster home.

The internet user Margarita Fresco posted on Facebook that the animal is staying on a rooftop at San Benigno Street #404, apartment 10, between Santos Suárez and Santa Emilia, on the first hallway.

According to neighbors, a woman from the area feeds her when she can, although she already has several dogs under her care and cannot take on another.

The animal spends most of the day under the sun and rain, without proper protection. Some neighbors have suggested the possibility of letting it roam the streets, but they fear it won’t survive because it is not used to being alone.

According to the reports, a group of rescuers had promised to pick it up, but they never showed up, which increased the community's frustration.

"Imagine the heat on that rooftop, the rain, and the hunger that poor animal is enduring. If someone is committed to saving her, let them do it; but do not play with the life of a defenseless being," lamented a neighbor.

The situation reflects the vulnerability of many animals in Cuba, where the lack of official shelters and effective animal protection policies leaves the fate of stray dogs and cats in the hands of volunteers and independent organizations.

The neighbors insist that it is urgent to find a responsible home for the little dog before it’s too late.
