They indicated that, after reading a social media post asking for help to rescue two puppies that had fallen into a well, they investigated the case and verified that the rescue was indeed taking place.

"Poorly told news," they noted, explaining that the firefighters were on site trying to save the animals, although the well was very narrow and the task was complicated.

"It is very easy to question, but very difficult to acknowledge that they did their job," they wrote, warning that a similar situation could have affected a child, an elderly person, or anyone.

The profile PeCA: Protectors in Ciego de Ávila, comprised of animal welfare volunteers, published a video that captures the exact moment when the little dog was pulled from the well and received amidst applause.

"Mía was rescued... thanks to the fire department for their rescue work. We always knew it was a difficult task and that it might or might not succeed, but the difference lies in making the effort, in not abandoning an animal in distress," they stated.

They also thanked those who cared about the case, and especially the rescuers.

Animal rescues by the Fire Department have become recurring events that evoke citizen solidarity and highlight a growing awareness of animal protection in Cuba.

In Las Tunas, a kitten was rescued after falling into a well and being stuck for hours. The operation generated multiple reactions on social media, where the dedication of the rescue team was celebrated.

Another widely followed case occurred in Santa Clara when firefighters rescued a dog that had fallen into a well. The pet belonged to an autistic child who missed his furry companion very much.

Similar rescues have been documented in various provinces. In Havana, a cat was trapped for days at the bottom of a walled patio, without access to food or water, until it was finally freed.

Another moving case occurred when a puppy was found locked up without food or water and rescued in critical condition. Neighbors alerted the authorities, and the fire department responded immediately, preventing a tragic outcome.

A dog trapped in a ravine in Havana has also been reported rescued, where rescuers had to descend with ropes and secure the animal to prevent it from falling.
