Eduardo Parapar, a 23-year-old resident of Hialeah in Miami-Dade County, was arrested this Tuesday in the northwest part of Florida, on the opposite end of the state, after being on the run for almost a week.
The Hialeah Police Department had classified him as an "armed and dangerous" suspect and had warned the community not to approach him in case of sighting.
His arrest marks the end of an intensive search that involved multiple law enforcement agencies, tracking dogs, and an active arrest warrant in Miami-Dade County, as detailed by Local 10.
The fugitive: Former soccer player wanted for armed robbery
Parapar, who was a center and wide receiver on the American football team at Westland Hialeah High School, has been identified by authorities as the primary suspect in a home burglary case that occurred in South Florida.
According to a previous report by Telemundo 51, authorities believed that the young man might be hiding in Hialeah or Hollywood. They described him as a man with black hair, brown eyes, 6'2" tall, and weighing approximately 220 pounds.
The alert issued to the public emphasized the level of risk it posed: “If you see it, contact the Hialeah police or call 911. They warn that you should not approach.”
An unexpected arrest for erratic driving
The arrest occurred when a police officer in Santa Rosa County, in the northwest of the state, noticed that the driver of a vehicle - later identified as Parapar - was behaving erratically.
When ordered to stop, Parapar provided a false name to the agents and attempted to flee the scene.
The immediate pursuit mobilized local authorities, and canine units were deployed to track him down.
Finally, the agents managed to find and apprehend him.
It was at that moment that the authorities discovered that it was the fugitive who was wanted by the Hialeah Police Department in connection with a robbery considered high-risk due to the potential use of weapons.
Multiple charges and bail imposed in Santa Rosa County
Following his arrest, Parapar was received at the Santa Rosa County jail, where he faces five separate charges, in addition to the outstanding arrest warrant in Miami-Dade.
The charges in Santa Rosa include:
-Two charges for possession of controlled substances (marijuana and other drugs without a prescription).
- possession of drug paraphernalia.
-Resistance to arrest without violence.
-Providing false information to the authorities.
The bail amount was set at $7,000, although a pending warrant issued in Miami-Dade County still weighs over him, which could complicate his legal situation and eventual release on parole.
Parapar is expected to be transferred to Miami-Dade County to face charges related to robbery once his legal proceedings in Santa Rosa are resolved.
The authorities have not specified whether he will face new charges resulting from his attempt to evade arrest or if he will be indicted for additional offenses related to the alleged possession of weapons.
