Miami-Dade authorities arrested a second suspect on Thursday in the armed robbery at the home of renowned Cuban jeweler York Valdés, which took place on March 13 in the southwest part of the county, where the victim and his family were held at gunpoint.

The arrested individual was identified as Jean Carlos Honores Vásquez, 31 years old, who faces charges of armed burglary and assault, aggravated kidnapping, and armed robbery, according to county jail records consulted by NBC Miami.

The man, of Peruvian origin and residing in Utah, was transferred to Miami-Dade and remains detained without bail, as well as being in immigration custody.

The accusation is related to the assault that occurred on the night of March 13 in 2025, when three armed men broke into Valdés's home, known as York the Jeweler.

According to the sworn arrest statement, the jeweler was in the yard when two masked individuals confronted him with a gun and forced him to enter the house, where his pregnant wife, his 17-month-old daughter, and a family friend were.

The thieves threatened to kill the victims while ransacking the house for more than an hour.

They stole jewelry and clothing valued at around $75,000, in addition to demanding that Valdés give them access to his jewelry stores to steal more items, a request that the Cuban managed to refuse.

In a moment of oversight, Valdés attempted to escape and the assailants fled, although one of them, Wilfredo Antuna, 35 years old, drove away in the victim's Cadillac XTS.

Antuna had been arrested last March after being caught wearing stolen clothing and jewelry during the robbery.

The investigation also led to the arrest of 58-year-old Keith Ingraham, accused of trafficking several of the stolen jewels, including a unique ring shaped like an owl, designed by Valdés himself.

Phone records linked Ingraham and Antuna, and later also Honores Vásquez, whose phone was in the area of the robbery on the night of the attack.

The case remains open while authorities search for a third suspect.

After the assault, Valdés stated that the hardest part was fearing for his family: “They took all my jewelry, my watches, but right now what matters to me is the life of my wife and daughter,” he emphasized.
