A Cuban moved hundreds of users on TikTok by sharing the moment he decided to throw away his old Nike sneakers, the same ones he brought from Cuba and which, as he confessed, had accompanied him for a couple of years, even after several repairs to extend their lifespan.

"They just can't take it anymore," commented the young man as he showed the sneakers with a broken sole and visibly worn out. With a tone of nostalgia, he assured that it was hard for him to part with them because they reminded him of everything he had experienced since arriving in the United States.

The video was accompanied by the phrase: "Tell me if you've felt the same, that feeling," inviting other Cubans to share similar experiences.

Reactions came quickly. “I still have clothes that I brought from Cuba, and I have been here for 9 years,” wrote a user.

Another advised him, "Let them go as relics." A third shared, "That's what happened to me, and it was because of working six months here, but the time came when I had to let them go."

The publication reflects how, for many Cuban emigrants, personal items brought from the island become pieces imbued with sentimental value, evoking memories and symbolizing stages of sacrifice and overcoming.
