A relative of the Cuban who killed the manager of a motel in Texas following a disagreement stated that Yordanis Cobos Martínez may have killed two people on the island.

“In Cuba, he killed two without paying for it. He left Cuba, and other people paid for the murder. Then he came here and spent about 4 or 5 years in prison here for drugs and because, you know,” said a relative who did not reveal their identity, according to the audio broadcast by Cuban-American journalist Javier Díaz.

"And to another, the last one he killed, after he killed him he came over here [U.S.], took out his liver, and just as he did with the head, he did the same with the liver, he threw it on the road," he asserted.

The woman claimed that Cobos Martínez has always been “a bad egg.” “Now they are going to kill him; his mother will never see him again,” she lamented.

The woman claims that everyone in the family thinks Cobos Martínez did this to die in the U.S.

This relative recounted another story about Cobos Martínez, who at a birthday party dealt around 60 machete blows to the father of the girl being celebrated.

This Saturday, another anonymous source informed Díaz that Cobos Martínez is originally from the municipality of Mayarí in Holguín and has allegedly been imprisoned at least twice in Cuba for theft.

However, the most alarming thing is that he allegedly also killed a man with a machete during a disagreement over the supposed theft of some horses.

The testimony gathered by the journalist indicates that two brothers went to confront Cobos Martínez about the theft of the animals, and he responded by attacking them with a machete, resulting in one of their deaths.

Cobos' uncle was a former convict and allegedly took responsibility for the crime to prevent his nephew from going to jail. He is currently serving a sentence for that reason, which allowed Yordanis to be freed.

Crime in Texas and background in the U.S.

Cobos was arrested last Wednesday for murdering Chandra Nagamallaiah, 50, the manager of the Downtown Suites Motel in Old East Dallas. The attack took place in front of the victim's wife and son.

Police reports detail that Cobos inflicted multiple wounds before decapitating his boss in broad daylight. A surveillance video shows how the attacker kicked the head and then threw it into a garbage bin.

The murderer was arrested shortly after committing the crime, while walking with a machete in hand, near a store. Despite the weapon he carried, the officers were able to apprehend him without using lethal force.

The murder has garnered national attention due to the attacker's history.

"The accused has a criminal history in the United States that includes charges of false imprisonment in California, indecency with a minor in Texas (dismissed), vehicle theft in Florida (dismissed), and carjacking (from which he was acquitted, although convicted of false imprisonment)," explained Javier Díaz.

Cobos had an active deportation order, but he was released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in January 2025, after the Cuban regime refused to take him back.

He is currently in custody of the authorities in Texas and faces charges of murder. The community is calling for the maximum penalty to be imposed.
