A 45-year-old Cuban resident of Miami was arrested and charged with a systematic plan of theft at the jewelry store where she worked, taking high-value pieces that she then pawned at various establishments.

Nubia Milena Torres-Cubillos, an employee of Miami Gold Pawn Inc., located on Northwest 7th Street, was captured on surveillance cameras while discreetly removing links from a Cuban-style gold bracelet valued at $104,500.

The events took place between the months of June and August.

The recordings show how Torres-Cubillos hid the links in a strategically placed box on a shelf, moved it to reduce visibility, and at times concealed them in papers to transport them to his desk or directly to his pockets.

In one of the scenes, the investigators noted that she "walked in an unnatural way" to prevent the sound of the gold from giving her away.

The police report, which Local 10 obtained, also details that on July 3, the woman pretended to organize merchandise to relocate the box with the stolen fragments.

Later, he took advantage of a work break to enter a colleague's office and put the stolen links in his bag.

The investigation revealed that part of the loot was quickly monetized: one item was pawned for $3,500 on June 28, and another for $1,800 on July 5.

But it wasn't the only thing.

The detectives discovered that Torres-Cubillos also took other valuable pieces from the jewelry store, such as 18-carat gold bracelets and necklaces, some with precious stones, which were pawned on different dates for amounts ranging from $250 to $755.

In light of the magnitude of the findings, the woman faces charges of grand theft, organized fraud, trafficking in stolen property, and selling items without verifying ownership.

She was arrested on Tuesday, and at the time of her detention, she exercised her right to remain silent and requested a lawyer.

Torres-Cubillos is currently incarcerated at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with bail set at $40,000.
