The man who was attacked with a machete last Saturday in Sancti Spíritus, urgently needs blood from the A+ group. This was reported on Monday by Yureibys Torresilla (El Héroe), who has been raising awareness about the case from the beginning and published a call for donations on his Facebook profile directed at everyone with that blood type.
In his post, Torresilla specified that the Provincial Blood Bank is located across from ETECSA, in the city of Sancti Spíritus, and that the donation should take place early this Tuesday.
He also explained that the information to be presented at the time of donation is: Eduardo González, bed 6, intensive care. “Please, let's help this young man live; he was the boy attacked on Saturday in his home with a machete,” he added in his message.
In a video recorded at night, in front of the Camilo Cienfuegos provincial hospital, Torresilla reaffirmed the urgency of the case and stated that he had spoken directly with the family of the young man and with the doctor from the intensive care unit. “I have already contacted the family of Eduardo González, the young man who was attacked in front of his home. I just spoke with the intensive care doctor, and yes, they need A+ blood donors for tomorrow,” he said.
The call was clear. “Anyone with blood type A+, tomorrow at 7:30 in the morning at the provincial blood bank. You need to present that information there, and the family of Eduardo González will be waiting. See you at the provincial blood bank,” he said on Monday.

Violent aggression and critical condition
The case of Eduardo González was first reported on Saturday, September 14, when a masked man broke into his home, near the Céspedes candy store, and attacked him with a machete. The assailant fled the scene and has not been identified by authorities.
"He hacked at Eduardo, the man of the house. It's unbelievable, unbelievable what we are experiencing. They took him to the hospital in very bad condition," Torresilla reported on the day of the attack.
Others users also commented on the seriousness of the incident. “He arrived in very bad shape, with many machete wounds. The doctors quickly attended to him. My God, it's very sad, poor man,” wrote a user identified as Denaidis Castro. Another user, Nely Hernández, noted: “There is a lot of violence and vandalism. The laws are very lenient regarding such matters.”
So far, the authorities have not provided official information about the attacker or the circumstances of the incident.
A reflection of the growing insecurity in Cuba
The incident adds to a series of violent aggressions that highlight the increasing climate of insecurity in Cuba, despite the official narrative that insists on a supposed reduction in crime.
In July, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz assured that "the trend is downward," although he admitted that the indicators remained high.
However, figures from the Cuban Citizens' Audit Observatory (OCAC) contradict that narrative: only between January and June 2025, there were 1,319 crimes reported in the country, including 63 murders, 16 femicides, 99 violent assaults, and 238 crimes related to vandalism, illegal possession of firearms, and smuggling.
The OCAC warns that violence in Cuba has worsened due to the economic crisis, the lack of institutional response, and the prioritization of political surveillance over the fight against common crime, which leaves the public exposed and without real protection against these events.
