The United States dollar (USD) continues to drive the informal market in Cuba, with a rate of 490 Cuban pesos this Friday, October 24, 2025, which marks an increase of five pesos compared to the previous day.
The independent medium elTOQUE reports on the exchange rates in the country's informal market. Despite slight fluctuations in previous weeks, the greenback continues to strengthen amid the shortages affecting Cubans.
For its part, the euro (EUR) is trading at 540 Cuban pesos, maintaining its value compared to Thursday. The European currency is establishing itself as an alternative option for those receiving remittances from the old continent or conducting tourist transactions, although its cash availability remains limited.
The MLC (Freely Convertible Currency), used in state-run stores, maintains a value of 200 Cuban pesos, reflecting the disconnect between the official exchange rate and the reality of the informal market.
