A group of neighbors and CUPET workers managed to extinguish the fire of a state-owned Lada that caught fire on a central street in Camagüey. Someone was recording the scene when a prosecutor unexpectedly interrupted the filming.

The video was published by the user @elwhaydecuba on TikTok. It does not specify the exact date of the incident, but it shows how the Lada is engulfed in flames in the middle of the road while people attempt to control the fire to prevent it from affecting pedestrians and other vehicles.

The firefighters did not arrive despite the danger posed by the burning Lada in the middle of the busy avenue.

In the recording, a woman's voice can be heard admonishing the citizen who was filming the scene: “Hey, comrade filming... That is a crime! And I tell you this as a prosecutor,” she is heard saying in a threatening tone.

However, the passersby replied that they did not see any crime in recording the incident. The video cuts off shortly after the exchange.

According to the publication, the fire was finally extinguished thanks to the intervention of several CUPET workers, who used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, as the firefighters never arrived at the scene.

The incident has generated criticism on social media regarding the inefficiency of emergency services in Cuba, as well as the attitude of the woman who tried to intimidate the citizen filming the scene.

So far, local authorities have not provided official information regarding the causes of the fire or the damage incurred to the state vehicle.
