A judge from Miami-Dade County set the trial date for Monday, November 10, against the Cuban reggaeton artist Yosvany Sierra Hernández, known as Chocolate MC, who is accused of making death threats on social media.
During the hearing held this Monday, Judge Milton Hirsch rejected the defense's argument that sought to protect the artist's messages under freedom of expression, considering them to be "true threats" and therefore not protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
The Prosecutor's Office claims that Chocolate MC offered a reward of 100 thousand dollars to anyone who attacked Damián Valdés Galloso, accused of the murder of the also Cuban reggaeton artist El Taiger.
Among the analyzed publications, phrases such as: “If the police don’t kill you, we will” and “One hundred thousand dollars for your head” are cited, accompanied by emojis and references to the ZMF gang.
The artist's lawyer, Adolfo Gil, stated before the cameras of Telemundo 51 that his client is "100% innocent" and is currently undergoing psychological evaluation.
On her part, Yelena Ramírez, the musician's partner, expressed optimism: “They scheduled the trial for the 10th, which is positive. It’s likely that he will soon be free from all of this.”
The hearings will continue on Wednesday, with the participation of the defense and the prosecution.
