Cuban content creator Izy (@izygamer5) shared a video in which she celebrated the honesty and effort of her gardener, a retired man who is trying to make a living amidst the crisis in Cuba.
In the clip, the elderly man cleans the yard, trims the weeds, and removes dangerous cacti, but when he finishes his work, he only wanted to receive 400 Cuban pesos, just enough —as he explained— to buy a package of ground meat and bring food home.
Moved, the influencer decided to pay more, highlighting that her gesture represented the value of honest work in a country where, she stated, "many young people do not want to work."
The post quickly went viral, sparking an intense debate about what should be considered a fair wage on the island.
Among the hundreds of comments, a user wrote: “The elderly are the most affected part of the system. They are in a situation where they don't even have the strength to work. Between old age, hunger, misery, and need, they are the ones who suffer the most consequences.”
Another follower of Izy sent money to help the gardener, a gesture that the creator described as an opportunity to give "a smile and hope to someone who doesn't give up."
