With deep sorrow, family and friends of the young Cuban Danwer Caballero Castro, 38 years old, are trying to raise funds to repatriate his body to Cuba following his sudden passing due to a heart attack.
The news of his death has shocked those who knew him and has flooded social media with messages of sadness and support. “Today I received news that broke my heart. A very dear friend passed away yesterday, suddenly, from a heart attack. Young, full of life, dreams, energy... and all of a sudden, everything stopped,” wrote his friend Celia Villegas, reminiscing about the moments shared with him and reflecting on how fleeting life can be.
On the platform GoFundMe, where the fundraising has been organized, it is noted that Danwer was “a son, husband, father, and friend full of joy, kindness, and an immense heart.”
His death leaves a deep void among his loved ones, particularly his wife and children, who face not only the loss but also the financial challenge of funeral expenses and the desire to fulfill his final journey to his homeland.
Although the publications do not specify the place of death, everything suggests that Danwer was residing in the United States, where the incident occurred.
So far, the campaign has managed to raise over $10,000 of a $20,000 goal, thanks to dozens of donations driven by the solidarity of friends, acquaintances, and Cubans both on the island and abroad.
His cousin Irisnexy Regueira expressed the family's bewilderment at such an early departure: "His passing has left us profoundly unsettled... so young, full of life, with so many dreams yet to fulfill, leaving behind a family and small children."
Leydianys Pérez also recalled Danwer as "such a good human being" and joined in the grief of "the entire family and everyone who knew him."
The passing of Danwer has united his family and the Cuban community in a shared feeling of loss and support, reflecting the strength of the bonds that keep alive the hope that his body can return to Cuba to rest alongside his roots and loved ones.
