Cuban-American Congress members María Elvira Salazar, Mario Díaz-Balart, and Carlos Giménez supported the measure approved by the United States House of Representatives on Tuesday that demands the release of all files related to the deceased financier and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The resolution, driven by Democrats and supported by almost all Republicans, was approved with 427 votes in favor and only one against, and must now pass to the Senate before being signed by President Donald Trump.

Recently, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, called on Republican congress members to vote in favor of the full release of the documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.

In their public statements, the three legislators from South Florida—all members of the Republican Party—emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and justice for the victims of the sexual scandal that involved political, business, and high society figures in the United States.

Congressman Carlos Giménez wrote on his X account: “I voted in favor of releasing the Epstein files. The American people deserve complete transparency and have the right to know the truth. It’s time to close this chapter and focus on governing for real results.”

For her part, María Elvira Salazar stated on X that she had held a prior meeting with survivors of the abuses committed by Epstein.

"I met with brave women whose voices have been ignored for far too long. Their strength reminds us why transparency and accountability must be a priority. No more secrets, no more protection for the powerful," the legislator stated.

Previously, Salazar had already announced on X her favorable vote with a strong message: “I want to be very clear: I will vote YES to release the Epstein files. There are moral lines that should simply never be crossed in life. No one is above the truth, neither the wealthy, nor the powerful, nor those politically connected.”

Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart, for his part, highlighted on his X account the work of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform (@GOPoversight), chaired by Republican James Comer, in leading the process.

"Under the leadership of @RepJamesComer, the @GOPoversight has released over 65,000 pages of documents, summoned key witnesses, and demanded full transparency from the Department of Justice, while also protecting the victims," he wrote.

Díaz-Balart acknowledged that the law "is not perfect," but insisted that it "upholds the commitment to transparency and justice," and asserted that this week's vote "continues the efforts to hold the guilty accountable."

The bipartisan initiative was championed by Democrat Jamie Raskin, who advocated for the right of victims and the public to know the full truth about the sex trafficking network run by Epstein, whose suicide in prison in 2019 sparked strong suspicions of a cover-up.

The outcome of the vote was celebrated in Congress by family members and survivors of the victims, who witnessed the session from the gallery.

If approved in the Senate as well, the law will require the publication of complete files, including the names of political, business, and entertainment figures who may have been associated with Epstein.

The Cuban-American congress members, representing districts with a significant Latino community in South Florida, have thus joined the Republican bloc that supports the full disclosure of the documents, in a gesture that reinforces an image of moral strength and commitment to governmental transparency.
