What do you think? Cubans react to seeing a 2026 BMW M5 on the island: "That's a crime."

A TikTok video shows a 2026 BMW M5 in Cuba, sparking debate due to its contrast with the country's economic reality, highlighting fuel shortages and the poor condition of the roads.

A video posted on TikTok by the user @descubriend0cuba has sparked intense debate on social media after showcasing a luxurious 2026 BMW M5 that has just arrived on the island.

In the images, a shiny black vehicle can be seen under a thatched roof, accompanied by the phrase: “My brother sent a BMW M5 2026.”

The post quickly went viral, accumulating thousands of reactions and comments of astonishment and criticism. Many users highlighted the contradiction between the value of the car—a high-end sports model whose price in the international market exceeds 120,000 dollars—and the economic reality faced by Cuba.

"That car in Cuba is crazy, and I don't mean it in a bad way but because of the gas in Cuba," commented a user.

"That's just to say that it has one, because at the first oil change, that's where it stayed," added another.

"It doesn't matter who they are or what they have, that's a crime; that car is not built for Cuba's gasoline, let alone with the state of the streets," commented another internet user.

The video was apparently recorded in a residential area of the island, where the vehicle is kept under a rustic wooden and guano structure, highlighting the visual disparity between the surroundings and the expensive car.

Amidst the fuel scarcity, the poor condition of the roads, and average salaries below 20 dollars a month, the presence of a BMW M5 2026 in Cuba has been seen by many as a symbol of inequality and privilege.
