Andy Ibáñez, 32 years old, became a free agent after three seasons with the Detroit Tigers. His standout performance in 2023 did not prevent a reduction in his playing time in the following years.

The Detroit Tigers parted ways with Cuban utility player Andy Ibáñez and chose not to offer him a contract, a decision that ends his three-season stint with the franchise and leaves him a free agent at the age of 32.

According to journalist Francys Romero on Facebook, Ibáñez, 32 years old, is currently without a team after completing three seasons in Detroit, where he had some high-performance moments, especially in 2023.

During that season, the infielder delivered a solid offensive performance, averaging .264 with 11 home runs, figures that established him as a valuable asset within the roster. However, between 2024 and 2025, his playing time was significantly reduced, primarily against right-handed pitchers, which ultimately affected his role on the team.

With his entry into free agency, Ibáñez, who will again be with the Cuba team in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, will now seek a new destination in Major League Baseball or in other markets where he can regain prominence.
