Lenier Mesa once again opened a window to one of the toughest periods of his life with his struggle against addiction.
The Cuban singer published on Facebook a before and after accompanied by a message that moved thousands of followers both inside and outside the island. With simple yet meaningful words, the artist reminded us that he hit rock bottom but managed to rise again.
"If I overcame a drug addiction, if I come from having nothing, what more can I ask of life? Whenever I fall, I get back up, always with God, health, and blessings. Amen," he wrote alongside two images that clearly show a physical transformation: from the thin, battered young man to the musician who today showcases stability and strength.
Although this confession surprised many, it is not the first time Lenier has revealed that painful chapter. In 2023, during an interview with El Gordo y la Flaca, he admitted that he had “lost himself in drugs and alcohol”, and that he was close to losing his family.
"I have been clean for almost a year and a half, thank God," he said, noting that since he decided to take back control, his life took a radical turn: new projects, a refreshed team, and a complete focus on his career.
That testimony had already moved his fans, who praised him for his honesty and for showing that success did not shield him from the demons faced by so many Cubans in situations of migration, precarity, or uprooting.
The new publication seems to pick up that intimate thread and, more than addressing fame or music, centers on its story of survival.
Lenier arrived in the United States as a teenager, worked as a barber, composed from a sense of rural nostalgia, and managed to catch the attention of figures like Marc Anthony.
