The U.S. President Donald Trump admitted on Friday that Republicans could lose the midterm elections in 2026.

"Even those who had, you know, a successful presidency" have faced setbacks, Trump said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

The leader of the MAGA movement assured, however, that he has “created the largest economy in history. But it may take time for people to understand all these things.”

"All that money coming into our country is currently building things: car plants, AI, a lot of things. I can't tell you how that will translate for the voter; all I can do is my job," he said.

Trump claims that "prices are in good shape."

"We'll see what happens. We should win. But, you know, statistically it's very hard to win. Yeah, it doesn't make sense," he concluded.

The U.S. Senate is controlled by the Republicans (53) with 45 Democrats and two independents, just like the House of Representatives: 213 Democrats to 220 Republicans.

However, the recent and overwhelming Democratic victories in elections such as those for the mayorship of New York or Miami suggest a potential shift in the balance of legislative power.

On Saturday, it was revealed that Trump is facing increasing discontent among the Latino voters who supported him in the last elections.

According to new polls, one in three Hispanic voters who supported him admits to regretting their vote, reflecting disappointment with his economic management and unmet promises.

The surveys were conducted by the civil organizations Somos Votantes and Somos PAC, and presented during a virtual press conference.

The results show that the majority of Latino voters hold the Republican Party responsible for the economic frustration they are experiencing, in a context marked by rising living costs, stagnant wages, and the negative impact of tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration.
