U.S. Embassy in Havana postpones its opening due to regime event



The opening of the U.S. Embassy in Havana has been postponed due to an event organized by the Cuban regime for Educator's Day. The Cuban government criticizes the U.S. for the seizure of an oil tanker.

The U.S. Embassy in Havana will postpone its consular services for U.S. citizens this Monday due to an event by the regime.

"The U.S. Embassy will delay the opening on Monday, December 22, 2025, until 10:00 a.m. due to an event planned by the regime in the square located in front of the Embassy," the diplomatic mission announced on X.

"All streets in the area will be closed to vehicle traffic. We remind U.S. citizens to avoid crowds. U.S. citizens with emergencies outside of business hours may please call +(53) (7) 839-4100, press 1 and then 0," they added.

The Cuban regime will celebrate on Monday the National Central Act for Educator's Day at the so-called Jose Martí Antimperialist Tribune in Havana.

“Educators from various generations and different training processes will gather in this historic place to reaffirm that #WithFidelInEveryClassroom we will continue to state with pride and gratitude,” reads a post from the Ministry of Education.

This Sunday, the Cuban regime launched an attack against the U.S. following the , off the coasts of Venezuela, an operation attributed to U.S. forces.

The official response was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, through a message published on X.

In his statement, Rodríguez Parrilla condemned the events and described the action as a "new act of piracy and maritime terrorism" by U.S. forces against an oil tanker and its crew.

According to the Cuban foreign minister, this act constitutes a reiteration of a behavior of "total disrespect and violation of International Law, Maritime Law, and the freedom of navigation and trade."
