Just hours before Christmas, residents of South Florida once again find themselves in a familiar scene during this time of year: reduced public services, closed offices, limited transportation, and a massive influx to major private chains to address everything from last-minute purchases to urgent needs.
Both on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, much of the commerce reduces hours or closes completely, forcing citizens to plan ahead, as services are not the same across all locations.
Authorities recommend checking what is open and what is not, as the variation in hours by location is considerable and may leave many without options, especially in communities where public transportation operates on limited schedules.
