Trump claims that tariffs are creating "unprecedented" national security



Donald Trump claims that tariffs enhance the security and wealth of the U.S., with GDP growth of 4.3% and a reduced trade deficit. However, his approval ratings remain low, according to Gallup.

The U.S. President Donald Trump stated this Saturday that “tariffs are creating great wealth and unprecedented national security for the United States.”

Trump also stated,  in a post on his Truth Social network, that the trade deficit would have decreased "by 60%, something never seen before," that the country is experiencing "a 4.3% GDP growth, and rising," and that "there is no inflation."

"We are once again a respected country," he concluded in his usual manner.

A few days ago, it was reported that the Consumer Price Index rose by 2.7% over the last 12 months up to November, indicating a slight slowdown in inflation.

A recent Gallup poll revealed that only 36% of Americans approve of Donald Trump's performance, including 89% of Republicans, 25% of independents, and 3% of Democrats.

Trump's approval rating has remained in the red since last month, when it dropped to the lowest point of his second term, just above his personal low of 34% in January 2021.

Similarly, 74% of Americans are dissatisfied with the situation in the country, primarily due to a deteriorating perception of the economy in recent months, the polling agency adds.
