The President of the United States,  Donald Trump, reignited the debate on social media by sharing a message from a user on X proposing the end of the regimes in Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran this year.

This Sunday on his account on Truth Social, Trump shared a tweet from a profile identified as Rookie Umpire, who describes himself as a baseball purist, detailing what he calls an "incredible winning streak."

"If it were to happen: two decades of Venezuelan communism. Five decades of Iranian mullahs. Almost seven decades of Castro's Cuba. All of this would reverse in 2026," he stated.

The post quickly went viral, garnering thousands of interactions.

The dissemination of the message occurs amidst an extraordinarily tense moment for the three dictatorships.

Following the U.S. military operation in Venezuela on January 3 that resulted in the capture of the dictator Nicolás Maduro, warnings and political confrontations between Washington and Havana have intensified.

Trump has already announced that "there will be no more oil or money for Cuba" following the disruption of energy resource flow that Caracas provided to the Island, and urged Cuban authorities to negotiate with the United States before "it's too late".

In the case of Venezuela, Maduro's arrest has been a historic turning point. The operation, led by U.S. special forces, resulted in the capture of the Chavista leader without any casualties among the attacking troops.

Dozens of members of the Venezuelan and Cuban security forces were killed during the attack, and Maduro now faces legal proceedings outside of Venezuela, with the possibility of being tried on charges that include drug trafficking and threats to regional security.

On the other hand, the mention of Iran in the tweet coincides with a moment of severe internal crisis in the Islamic Republic.

Since late December, Iran has faced a wave of antigovernmental protests sparked by rising prices, which have evolved into a direct challenge to the clerical regime that has ruled since 1979.

Human rights organizations report over 500 deaths in clashes between protesters and security forces, in what has become one of the most significant protest movements since 2019.

The president Trump suggested that the United States is "ready to help" the Iranian people, and Tehran responded emphatically, stating that any attack on Iran would turn U.S. bases and ships in the region into "legitimate targets."

The viral spread of the message shared by Trump reflects how, in a year marked by changes brought about by military actions, economic sanctions, and popular protests, narratives emerge that connect such disparate situations as those of Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran under a common thread: the possibility that decades of authoritarian governments may face a turning point in 2026.

Although it is an aspiration expressed on social media, not based on detailed official policies, the media impact is undeniable and fuels discussions about the political future of the three countries.
