A viral video posted by content creator Adalberto Rodríguez (@newlatinostv) shows the moment a Cuban resident in the United States was intercepted by ICE agents while parked in his car with his partner and a baby.
This Cuban couple escaped detention thanks to having a key document with them: the Green Card or residence permit.
The video, recorded by the immigrant himself from his vehicle, shows how several officers from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) approach the car, asking him to roll down the window and provide his identification.
The man hands over his Real ID, an official document valid in the U.S. However, the officers seem dissatisfied and start questioning him about an alleged court date, suggesting that he could be arrested at that moment.
"We have already reviewed your documents and you cannot be in the United States. We are going to place you in detention," is heard from one of the officers.
The Cuban remains calm and responds firmly: "Wait, let's save time. Here are our Green Cards. We are residents of the United States."
The agent was surprised and visibly nervous. She even doubts that these are real documents. She asks the Cuban why he didn’t show that document earlier, to which the man replies, “You asked for identification, and I gave you our Real ID.”
The video has generated thousands of comments and reactions on social media, where many users emphasize the importance of staying calm and knowing one's rights as a legal resident in the United States.
