The president Donald Trump stated this Saturday that his administration achieved “zero admissions” of irregular migrants over the past eight months, as the White House released new messages and official figures showing historical lows in border crossings.
The statement was shared by the official account of the White House on the social media platform X, where Trump is quoted describing the last year as “the most successful of any administration in American history,” while also noting that no illegal migrants have been accepted during that period.
According to official data from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) office, the United States ended December 2025 with historical lows in migrant encounters and has gone eight consecutive months without releasing migrants under parole programs.
The agency confirmed that between October, November, and December, there were 91,603 immigration encounters recorded nationwide, the lowest number ever reported for the start of a fiscal year (from October 1 to September 30) and 25% lower than the previous record in 2012.
In the southwest of the country, Border Patrol recorded 21,815 arrests during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026, representing a 95% decrease compared to the average recorded during the administration of Joe Biden between 2021 and 2025.
In December alone, there were 30,698 meetings held across the country, a decline of 92% compared to the peak reached under the previous administration.
In the southwest border, there were 6,478 detentions recorded, with a daily average of 209 people.
The Department of Homeland Security also emphasized that for the eighth consecutive month, no migrants were released, in contrast to the 7,041 who were released in December 2024.
During the last month of 2025, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, described the results as "extraordinary" and stated that the U.S. border is now "the safest in history."
The authorities also highlighted an increase in drug seizures. In December, CBP seized 39,030 pounds of narcotics, including 865 pounds of fentanyl, over 12,800 pounds of methamphetamine, and nearly 3,800 pounds of cocaine.
In the economic sector, the agency processed imports amounting to 314 billion dollars in December and identified 28.4 billion dollars in owed tariffs, while total revenue from fees, taxes, and charges exceeded 297 billion between January and December.
In parallel, official accounts linked to the White House shared infographics and messages claiming a “93% reduction in border crossings,” nearly two million immigrants removed from the country, and over 586,000 expulsions since the beginning of the year, as part of a “zero tolerance” strategy strengthened by deployments of personnel, technology, and physical barriers at the southern border.
While the Trump administration presents these figures as evidence of effectiveness and having achieved "the safest border in history," human rights organizations have warned about the impact of these measures on vulnerable communities and question the coercive nature of the tightening of immigration policy.
