The Miami Marlins designated Cuban outfielder Víctor Mesa Jr., son of former player Víctor Mesa, for assignment (DFA) this Tuesday, as reported by journalist Francys Romero on his social media.

According to the insider, the decision was made to make room on the roster for right-handed pitcher Garrett Acton, who was claimed off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.

In this way, Mesa Jr. will now have seven days to determine his future. During that period, he could be traded to another team, claimed off waivers, or accept an assignment to Triple-A.

The 24-year-old Cuban outfielder, made his Major League debut during the 2025 season, after spending seven years within the Miami Marlins' minor league system.
