A young Cuban has gone viral on TikTok after showcasing how she has to wash her clothes in the early morning, taking advantage of the few hours when electricity arrives at her home on the island.

"I live in Cuba, and I want to share a routine from my morning. Well, my loves, let me tell you that the power came back at 4 in the morning, and of course, I got up and started washing," narrated the user @yatmara.bernal in a video that reflects the harsh conditions of daily life in the country.

The young woman explained that she had to take advantage of the early morning to wash all the accumulated laundry before preparing her lunch for work: rice with fried mortadella, beans, tomato, and a plantain that she would cook with sugar at the office.

“Then I dressed the little girl, put on her shoes, gave her a bottle of warm milk, had a quick coffee, and we left. First, I took her to daycare and then went straight to work,” the Cuban woman added, illustrating the routine of many working mothers facing constant blackouts.

The testimony of Yatmara Bernal has sparked dozens of comments from Cubans both on and off the island, who identify with her situation and commend her resilience in overcoming challenges despite the hardships.

The prolonged blackouts and the electrical crisis continue to affect nearly all of Cuba, forcing thousands of families to reorganize their schedules to carry out basic tasks, such as cooking, ironing, or washing, during the few hours when electricity is restored.

Yatmara's video has become an everyday portrayal of Cuban resilience in the face of a lack of essential services, a situation that Miguel Díaz-Canel's regime continues to attribute to technical issues, while citizens endure it day after day.
