The Cuban activist Amelia Calzadilla reported this Friday a supposed repressive action against young people connected to the independent project El 4tico, after police officers showed up at the house from which they produce and share their content.

Through a video shared on social media, Calzadilla raised the alarm about what was happening. "This is an SOS to my community. It's happening right now," he stated, while showing the moment when the police arrived at the scene.

According to their complaint, the authorities would be conducting "an illegal search" at the home of the young people, whom they described as citizens expressing themselves "in a civic and peaceful manner" from their own home.

Calzadilla directly challenged the official discourse of the regime. “Didn’t they say that opponents are not persecuted in Cuba?” he asked, while demanding respect for individuals and for the Cuban people.

The project El 4tico shared the video on its social media platforms, and numerous Cuban activists have offered their solidarity. In the recording, a police officer is heard explaining: "You have a search warrant. You must open up and allow us to enter."

It was a group of at least four officers, and one of them showed the activist the document that supposedly corresponds to the search warrant.

El 4tico is known on social media for its analysis and sociopolitical critique videos concerning Cuban reality. It has gained visibility for dismantling official narratives through communicational arguments and historical elements.

In a country marked by power outages, uncontrolled inflation, mass migration, and growing social discontent, such initiatives bring the debate about freedom of expression and creativity in Cuba back to the forefront.

So far, the authorities have not provided an official account regarding the reported operation.
