Fifteen couples formalized their union this February 14 in the ninth edition of the traditional collective wedding held at the Expoholguín Fairgrounds, on a day marked by the symbolism of Love and Friendship Day, amid ongoing blackouts and shortages affecting the country.
According to the official newspaper Ahora, the event has become a tradition in the Holguin community, allowing couples to formalize their commitment before the law on a significant date.
The ceremony brought together family and friends, who supported the couple in an event that, according to the local media, was filled with emotion and hope for the future, romanticized by the regime's spokesperson newspaper.
The couples shared smiles and words of commitment in an atmosphere that the Castro-aligned media insisted on calling "festive."
After the formalization of the marriage, the newlyweds enjoyed a family lunch where they shared anecdotes and celebrated the beginning of their new phase.
Later, they moved to the Motel Los Tamarindos to begin their honeymoon, emphasized Ahora.
The collective wedding at Expoholguín remains one of the most representative events in the local calendar, despite the economic and energy challenges faced by the region, and reaffirms its purpose of celebrating love in complex times.
