The legendary card Pikachu Illustrator, regarded as the most coveted piece in the Pokémon universe, made history once again after being sold for 16.5 million dollars at an auction, setting a new world record for a collectible card.

The transaction was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the highest price ever paid for this type of item at a public auction.

The card, created in 1998 as a prize for an illustration contest organized by the Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comic, is one of the rarest in the world. Only 39 copies were printed, and very few are preserved in impeccable condition.

The sold copy has a PSA 10 rating, the highest possible on the grading scale, which exponentially increases its value in the market.

The protagonist of the operation was the influencer and fighter Logan Paul, who had acquired the card in 2021 for 5.275 million dollars, a figure that was already a milestone at the time.

According to reports from U.S. media, after commissions and auction fees, Paul is estimated to have made over 8 million dollars in profit from the eye-catching sale.

The lot also included a diamond-studded necklace in which Paul himself had mounted the letter, turning it into a hybrid piece between jewelry and a collectible object.

The phenomenon confirms the sustained rise of the collectibles market, where cards, comics, and items related to pop culture have reached millions in recent years.

The sale of the Pikachu Illustrator not only cements its status as the "crown jewel" of Pokémon but also redefines the limits of what collectors are willing to pay for unique pieces.
