The family of Karol G is going through one of its most complex and delicate moments. In recent days, Verónica Giraldo, the singer's older sister, has published a series of videos that have raised alarms and generated a wave of reactions on social media.
Between tears and visibly affected, Verónica assured that she is facing a legal process for the custody of her daughter and that she feels she does not have the support of her own family. “They are saying that I am crazy. Until today, I found out that my family is turning their back on me,” she expressed in one of the recordings.
At another time, she expressed a statement that shook many: “I no longer care what happens to my life because they've taken away my will to live,” referring to the fear of losing contact with her daughter.
The statements went beyond the current conflict. Verónica also spoke about her childhood and stated that she grew up in an environment marked by violence between her parents. “I didn’t have the best example either,” she said, asserting that she witnessed physical aggression when she was a child. According to her account, those experiences influenced how she has handled her own relationships.
One of the most shocking moments was when she showed the wounds on her hands and explained that she caused them while trying to break a window to enter a home where, according to her, her daughter was. "I am desperate," she insisted.
The family's message
After the videos went viral, Jessica Giraldo, sister of Karol G and the artist's manager, released a statement acknowledging that the family is going through “a very sensitive and difficult time.”
"Our priority at this moment is for her to receive the support and attention she needs, and to protect her well-being and that of her daughter," she wrote, asking for empathy and respect in what she described as a complex situation.
Karol G, for her part, has not directly commented on the current controversy. However, in the past, she has publicly spoken about her sister's mental health.
What Karol G said about Verónica
In February 2023, during her performance at the Viña del Mar Festival, Karol G dedicated some words to Verónica, who had just become a mother.
“For obvious reasons related to what happens to a woman after childbirth, she hasn't felt happy these days,” said the artist before thousands of people, before dedicating the song While I Heal from the Heart.
That night, the singer explained the message behind her album Mañana será bonito: that even in the darkest moments, things can get better.
“Vero, I love you. No matter what, tomorrow will be beautiful,” he expressed from the stage.
Later on, Verónica herself revealed on social media that she suffered from depression during her pregnancy and postpartum depression. “I am receiving psychiatric and psychological help, and I am also taking medication,” she confessed at that time, acknowledging that it is not always easy to talk about mental health.
A story that goes beyond the scandal
What began as a family conflict showcased on social media has evolved into a broader conversation about mental health, motherhood, legal processes, and complex family dynamics.
While some users support Verónica and send her messages of encouragement, others are calling for caution, especially since the case involves a minor.
For now, the focus remains on how the situation will evolve and whether there will be a more direct statement from Karol G. However, beyond the controversy, the issue has once again brought to light a reality that many women experience in silence: the emotional fragility that can accompany motherhood and the importance of receiving timely support.
