From Centro Habana, Cayo Hueso, to Florida, the story of Naomis Pérez is that of thousands of Cubans who have had to leave their country in search of freedom. She arrived in the United States in August 2021, crossing borders and fleeing political persecution in Cuba.
In the Island, she worked as a waitress. Upon arriving in the United States, she practically started from scratch. “I arrived with not a dollar, nothing, but with a strong desire to move forward and leave behind the dictatorship that consumes every Cuban,” she recounts.
Like many immigrants, he lived for months in uncertainty. He managed to integrate into the job market, but the business where he worked closed due to internal issues. Additionally, his work permit had expired, although he had an extension, which led to several doors being closed to him.
An unexpected opportunity in the world of cars
In the midst of that difficult stage, an opportunity arose in the world of car sales. It was a completely new territory for her.
“I was scared because it's a competitive and demanding world, but it was the only one that opened doors for me at that moment,” he recalls.
About a year ago, she decided to pursue this path as a car sales advisor, dealing with both new and used vehicles. What began as an alternative due to necessity turned into a project for personal and professional growth.
More than selling cars: supporting other families
For many immigrant families, buying a car is one of the most important steps in establishing themselves in the United States. It represents independence, stability, and the opportunity to access better job prospects.
Naomi understands it because she has also gone through that process. That's why she asserts that her priority is not just to sell, but to provide honest and personalized advice.
“I want people to feel confident in their next purchase. My goal is to provide them with the best options, whether for new or used cars, and guide them throughout the entire process,” he states.
He has already accompanied numerous individuals in the delivery of their vehicles, turning each key handed over into a story of shared effort.
A message for the Cuban community
From Florida, this young Cuban continues to forge her path in the United States. Her story reflects resilience, determination, and the will to not give up in the face of difficulties.
Today, she is seen as a close advisor, dedicated to helping anyone make an informed and beneficial decision in purchasing their next car.
Because for her, each client is not just a sale, but a new opportunity to demonstrate that, even starting from nothing, progress can be made.
