The Cuban actress and model Camila Arteche recently shared a message full of hope and wishes for transformation for her homeland on Instagram.

From Puerto Rico, Arteche expressed his longing to see a sovereign Cuba, filled with light and freedom, while also recognizing the power and resilience of its people

"Being in Puerto Rico and incessantly thinking about Cuba was inevitable, in what could be a possibility of abundance, joy, and freedom," he wrote.

"Putting all my energy and prayers for my land to be sovereign, to be filled with light, and for my people to connect with the personal power that I know they have. Please, universe, let this not be an illusion this time, let it not remain just a song when they say … the day is already on its way."

Arteche's message reflects the deep emotional connection he maintains with his country and his desire for real change, beyond the empty promises and the speeches that have historically accompanied the official narrative.

Her words aim to inspire Cubans to regain hope and personal agency, while she observes from the outside the daily challenges faced by the population on the island.

Her publication is part of a series of statements in which the artist has denounced the challenges facing Cuba.

In October 2024, Arteche expressed her anguish over the electrical collapse and the energy crisis that left the entire country in the dark during the initial general blackouts that have continued to impact the population.

At that time, he shared photos of neighborhoods completely in darkness and messages from his family recounting the impossibility of preserving food, charging phones, or caring for the sick in hospitals, while schools remained closed.

"Since Friday, October 18, Cuba has been experiencing a national blackout, with no prospect of knowing when electricity will be restored… food spoiling, practically cut off from communication… waiting to charge phones, with an entire block relying on a single generator from a neighbor," he wrote at that time, reflecting his frustration and sense of helplessness.

In her stories, she showed how her family had gone three days without electricity, while in some neighborhoods, spontaneous protests began to emerge due to the lack of basic services.

Their voice joins that of countless Cubans both on and off the Island who, although geographically distant, continue to feel the urgency for real change.
