Many do not know it, but the popular Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara Mourreau, known for his role in the Culpables saga, has a strong connection to Cuba. He is the son of the Cuban dancer Michel Guevara, and that Caribbean heritage is not only part of his family history but also influences his way of speaking.
In an interview granted to the magazine Elle in 2024 —which was recently recalled by the portal Cubaactores—, the young actor made it clear that being Cuban is in his blood. Amid laughter and in a completely natural manner, he shared some of the Latin expressions he frequently uses.
"De pinga. De pinga, candela… pff, I don’t know, I use 'de pinga' a lot. De pinga, because my father is Cuban, so I use 'de pinga' quite a bit. It’s just that 'pinga for everything,'" Guevara confessed, revealing not only his connection to Cuban culture but also the affection with which he embraces his roots.
His smile as he uttered these words said it all. Beyond his rising career in film, Gabriel shows that his Cuban roots are still very much alive, even in those linguistic twists that are so characteristic of the Island.
The actor has been building a career that is increasingly visible in the audiovisual industry. He made his debut in the youth series Skam España and later participated in productions such as HIT. His international breakthrough came with projects on platforms like Netflix, where he was part of Tú no eres especial, and HBO Max, with Cómo mandarlo todo a la mierda.
However, it was in 2023 that he gained significant popularity by starring in Culpa mía, alongside Nicole Wallace, a global hit on Amazon Prime Video that continues with other installments of the saga and turned him into one of the most recognized young faces of the moment.
