The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, assured that Cuba could experience a significant political shift in the coming months and suggested that this would occur under the leadership of the American president, Donald Trump.
"After nearly 70 years of a supposed children's revolution that only mattered to the Castro family, they left a population entrenched in the most abject misery. This week, they announced a change in their economic model; they are experiencing their own perestroika. And surely, before mid-year, under the leadership of that great man who is Donald Trump, we will likely see a free Cuba," asserted Milei.
The Argentine president has been a fervent critic of the Cuban political model, which he blames for the economic and social situation in the Caribbean country, stating that it has left the population in conditions of poverty.
The statements by Milei occur in an international context characterized by political tensions and debates about the future of Cuba, as well as the role that external actors could play in potential changes within the country.
He recently stated that if a change occurs on the island, he will travel to Havana to witness it with his own eyes and celebrate alongside the Cubans.
