The young Cuban activist Anna Sofía Benítez Silvente, known on social media as Anna Bensi, was released on Tuesday from a police unit in Alamar after being summoned by State Security, in a new episode that has raised concerns among those following her case both on the island and abroad.

"She just left the unit. 3:07 PM. 'God is in control!' wrote young Christian David Espinosa on Facebook, accompanying the message with a photo of the young woman walking in front of the police station, visibly alone, after the interrogation."

The citation had been set for 2:00 p.m. at the PNR station 27 in Alamar, Havana. According to the young content creator who reported it earlier, the document was not delivered to her directly, but to a cousin, and it did not specify under what condition she was required, which she described as an irregularity.

Although the authorities claimed it was a "declaration-taking" related to the case against her mother, Caridad "Cary" Silvente, Anna Sofía rejected that version and warned that the real reason was to exert pressure on her.

The case of her mother has been at the center of the conflict. Cary Silvente was interrogated days earlier for having recorded and during the delivery of a citation at her home. Because of this, she faces charges under the Cuban Penal Code, with possible prison sentences, in addition to measures such as house arrest and a ban on leaving the country.

Anna Sofía herself had anticipated that she would be summoned, following direct warnings from an agent during the interrogation of her mother. Despite the increasing harassment, the young woman has publicly reiterated that she does not intend to remain silent.

The image of her leaving the unit, alone under the Havana sun, has become a symbol of a story that many Cubans follow with concern: that of a family facing institutional pressure for exercising their voice on social media.

In the midst of the pressure, her mother, Caridad “Cary” Silvente, also spoke out publicly in defense of her daughter. “God is with you, daughter, my unconditional support for you; no one can accuse you for thinking differently. Freedom for political prisoners.”
