The Cuban pilot Isabella Abreu, who recently became the first Cuban to compete in European Formula, shared an emotional reel on Instagram this Tuesday, paying tribute to her childhood in Cuba, featuring images of Cuban pizzas, her childhood games with spinning tops, balls, and even throwing stones.
As she shared those images from her childhood, a street vendor's cry could be heard in the background, one of those familiar sounds that Cubans have heard countless times in their neighborhoods. Voices that traveled through the streets of the island and are part of the soul of anyone who grew up listening to them from their window.
The eight-second video comes a week after the announcement of her participation in the French Formula 4 Championship (FFSA F4 Academy) for the 2026 season, and at a time of high visibility for the young woman born in Holguín in 2004 and residing in Miami.
In the post's description, Isabella wrote a message directly to the Cuban community: "A hug to all Cubans around the world who have supported me, started to follow me, and written so many beautiful messages. Your support makes me stronger to keep fighting until we raise our flag high."
The response from her followers was immediate. "I love that you defend and take pride in your roots"; "What a pride to have her represent us"; "Go girl! We support you from here" was one of the comments that reflected the feelings of those who, from different corners of the world, saw themselves in those images. Isabella entered motorsports at the age of 16 and today has become a role model for the Cuban community in the diaspora.
