A young Cuban identified on TikTok as @dianet.vc shared her migration experience after leaving Cuba at the age of 18 with her partner, in a testimony that has sparked reactions among users on social media.

"I left my country at eighteen with my partner. Honestly, I was never prepared, but I was very determined," she shares in the video, where she describes the experience as "something intense, tough," although she assures that she currently feels "very grateful, happy, and obviously missing it a lot."

The young woman explains that her first flight was a significant experience: “It was very impressive to board a plane for the first time.” According to her account, the initial journey lasted approximately three hours and included a stopover in Barbados.

During that leg of the journey, he explains that the conditions were basic: "they only gave us water on the plane." At the layover, he adds, the time was limited: "they put us on a small bus, and we had to quickly board the other plane because it was about to leave."

Before boarding the next flight, he mentions that they bought food: "quite expensive, by the way." However, on that second plane, they received a bit more attention: "they gave us some juice and a few cookies."

The journey continued to Guyana, where they stayed for several days. “We arrived at night in Guyana, and after all, everyone knows what’s coming. It was an intense few days, but not too bad,” he comments. During his stay, he claims to have taken care of paperwork and had his first experiences outside of Cuba: “I visited my first supermarkets, went to some rentals, and got my documents in order.”

Later, they began their journey to Brazil. "We arrived at the airport around seven in the evening, had something to eat, which was delicious," she recounts. Their flight left in the early morning, so they had to wait several hours before departing for Brasília.

From there, they continued their journey overland to Goiânia, the city where they would finally settle. “We took a plane to Brasília, then a bus to Goiânia,” he explains, hinting that he will share more details about the process in future posts.

The video has received multiple reactions, mostly messages of support, blessings, and positive comments. Some users also engaged with questions about the terms used, while others highlighted mentioned destinations as options for living.

The testimony reflects a common migration route among Cubans in recent years, characterized by stops in the Caribbean and South America before settling in other countries in the region.
