A Cuban mother with three children living in extreme poverty in Holguín managed to secure decent housing thanks to a solidarity campaign led by the Holguin influencer Noly Blak, which raised 3,676,640 Cuban pesos.

Blak and his followers, both on and off the island, gave a home to the children who gathered firewood to help their mother. Now this family has a decent house to live in, equipped with appliances and a charcoal stove for cooking their meals. They were also donated a refrigerator.

The little ones were happy because everyone can fit in their new little house; they even moved in with their puppy.

The case went viral on March 28, when Blak posted a video on social media showing the extremely harsh living conditions of the family. The children were sleeping on the floor and did not have shoes.

Noly was moved when he asked the girl what her shoe size was, and she replied, "The poor don’t have a size," referring to the fact that she could wear any pair of shoes that were given to her.

The eldest of the three brothers would go out with a wheelbarrow attached to a bicycle to gather firewood in the surroundings and sell it for 200 pesos to help his pregnant mother.

The young mother is expecting her fourth child, and the father is in prison. They didn't have a home. They all lived in one room, without any minimum living conditions.

The video featuring this heartwarming story sparked a wave of donations that made it possible to fund a decent home for the family.

This citizen initiative highlights the state's inability to meet the basic needs of the Cuban population. Many families live in extreme poverty and, for over five years, have been forced to cook with firewood or coal due to blackouts lasting up to 36 hours.

The participants in the campaign have made it clear that this blessing received by the children and their mother was not an achievement of the government; it was the people helping the people.
