A Cuban residing in Italy, identified on TikTok as Iris (@amymodo2), posted a video in which she shares the impact of seeing her 65-year-old father for the first time after a year: the man arrived visibly deteriorated, having lost approximately 20 kilos.
What makes the testimony particularly revealing is that the father does not belong to the most vulnerable group of the Cuban population.
Iris makes monthly online purchases that arrive at home in two days; he owns a business on the island and always has a full refrigerator. Still, the physical deterioration has been devastating.
"She arrived last night. I want to say that she came with a lot of destruction; I believe that she lost about 20 kilos, thin, thin, thin, completely devastated."
