A Cuban family experienced one of those moments that stops time: the young Leivys Hernández announced to her grandmother that she is pregnant and that, consequently, the almost 100-year-old woman will become a great-grandmother.

The moment was captured in a video published on TikTok by the account @los.churrys, where the woman is seen sitting before receiving the news she had been eagerly anticipating.

In the audio, a voice sets the stage before breaking the news: "Well, look, Dayan has to tell you something that we’re bringing as a surprise to the whole world now. Tell her, what is it that you would most like to hear from Leivys right now?" "That she’s pregnant," the woman responds, before the news is confirmed.

The video description says it all with just the right amount of emotion: "Telling my grandmother the news that she will be a great-grandmother at almost 100 years old!!"

The domestic and everyday scene contrasts with the significance of what it represents: a woman who has lived nearly a century and who will now witness the growth of four generations of her family.

Leivys Hernández herself left a comment on the video with a phrase that summarizes all the love behind the gesture: "It's not easy for God to grant her more years of life."

TikTok users quickly responded with the same affection. "Lovely blessings and much health for your grandmother," wrote an anonymous user. "What a lovely grandmother, may God bless her," said another.

That a grandmother nearing 100 years of age can receive such news is no small matter anywhere in the world, but in Cuba, it carries special significance. The island is one of the countries in Latin America with the highest aging population rate: more than 3,800 Cubans are over 100 years old, and women make up between 77% and 80% of that group. The average life expectancy hovers around 77-78 years, with women reaching up to 80 years.

These kinds of emotional videos of Cuban families announcing pregnancies to their loved ones have become a well-established trend on TikTok.
