Spain will expand its network of economic and commercial offices in the United States with two new locations in Boston and Houston, as the First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, confirmed this Tuesday in a video posted on his X account.

The announcement marks the expansion of the Spanish network in the United States from six to eight offices, all managed by ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, an organization already present in Miami, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, and Chicago as part of a global network of over 105 centers.

"We are expanding our network from six to eight offices, which will soon be operational to help realize business opportunities among our business communities," highlighted Cuerpo, in a context where commercial relations between the two countries are of particular significance. The measure aims to support the more than 1,600 Spanish companies with interests in the United States.

The volume of the total exchanges between Spain and the United States reached 47 billion euros, highlighting the strategic importance of consolidating and expanding Spanish institutional presence in the North American country.

The expansion occurs at a time of certain diplomatic tension, following Spain's closure of Spanish airspace to U.S. military aircraft in the context of the conflict with Iran. However, Minister Cuerpo has emphasized that Spanish companies operate under the same conditions as other European ones and that the bilateral trade relationship will remain stable.

The tariff landscape also sets the context for this decision. The Trump administration has imposed a general tariff of 15% on European imports, which has prompted Spain to strengthen its business support network to facilitate the adaptation of its companies to the new international trade environment.
