Mariah Angeliq experienced one of the greatest moments of her career this weekend when she surprised everyone by joining Karol G on stage at Coachella, the first Latina artist to headline the festival that is considered the most iconic in the world.
The young woman, known as "The Princess of Miami," shared a series of images on Instagram this Tuesday that recap the night, accompanied by a message that says it all: from the 305 with giant dreams to one of the biggest stages in the world.
Together, they performed "El Makinon", the hit they released in 2021 that became a viral phenomenon, winning the award for Viral Song of the Year at the 2022 Latin AMAs.
Mariah Angeliq —whose real name is Mariah Angelique Pérez— was born on August 7, 1999 in Miami, the daughter of a Cuban father and a Puerto Rican mother.
He grew up in the 305, the area code of Miami and the heart of the Cuban diaspora in the United States, a city that shaped his identity both personally and artistically.
Her Cuban roots are not just a part of her family history: in July 2021, during the 11J protests, Mariah used her platform to express support for the Cuban people and her concern for her grandmother and family on the island.
On the Coachella stage, dressed in an elaborate golden outfit, the artist made a surprise appearance before thousands of people who sang along to every verse of "El Makinon" with La Bichota.
The connection between both artists goes beyond that song: in June 2025, Karol G collaborated with Mariah again on her album Tropicoqueta, where she appears on the track "FKN Movie."
The historic show by the Colombian artist also featured the presence of Becky G, Wisin, and musician Greg Gonzalez, but Mariah's appearance was one of the most celebrated moments of the night.
The reggaeton artist summarized the experience with a phrase that doesn't need translation: "singing 'el makinon' with you, going out as a surprise, and feeling that love from the audience… priceless. this moment is PA forever baby".
Since she burst onto the urban scene in 2018 with her first single and took off with "Perreíto" in 2019, Mariah Angeliq has gradually built a career that ultimately led her to the world's biggest stage.
