A total of 91 Cuban migrants (76 men and 15 women) were deported this Thursday from the United States on a flight headed to José Martí International Airport in Havana, according to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT).

According to the official information, two of the returnees were transferred to investigative agencies as they were identified as suspected offenders of criminal acts committed before leaving the country. No additional details were provided about these cases.

The operation was carried out within the framework of the bilateral migration agreements between both countries, the information highlights.

With this return, the number of Cubans returned to the island in 2026 rises to 530, through 14 operations carried out from various countries in the region.

Cuban authorities reiterated their call for a "regular, safe, and orderly" migration, while emphasizing the risks associated with irregular departures.

The increase in deportations occurs in a context of rising Cuban migration, largely driven by the severe economic and social crisis facing the island, which continues to push thousands of citizens to seek opportunities outside the country.
