Julito, a Cuban living with HIV, publicly thanked the wave of solidarity he received after content creator Yosdiel Gattorno shared his case on Facebook in mid-April and called for assistance from neighbors and Cubans abroad.

In a video, Julito himself expressed: "I am very grateful for the help I am receiving. Thank you very much."

In a second video, Gattorno also showed the positive transformation of Julito after receiving help.

The influencer had explained a few weeks ago that Julito was hospitalized for 20 days due to a relapse related to his illness, during which he lost 20 pounds.

Upon returning home, the situation was devastating. Their partner had sold all their belongings, leaving them with absolutely nothing.

The case of Julito reflects the extreme vulnerability faced by many patients with HIV in Cuba, where there is a recurring shortage of antiretrovirals, with interruptions in treatment that worsen the health condition of those who rely on these medications to survive.

According to official data, more than 35,373 people live with HIV on the island. Independent organizations and patients have repeatedly reported difficulties in accessing medications and adequate care due to the lack of antiretrovirals.

The solidarity of the Cuban community, both on the island and abroad, has been key in cases like Julito's.
