President Donald Trump announced this Friday that with the help of the United States, Iran is working to remove all sea mines from the Strait of Hormuz, which would end a crisis that paralyzed naval traffic in that route for weeks and resulted in the price of Brent crude rising from 67 to over 126 dollars per barrel.

The announcement comes after weeks of extreme tension in one of the world's most strategic maritime routes, through which about 20% of global oil passes.

The crisis intensified after the negotiations in Islamabad that failed on April 12, which led to an unprecedented escalation in the region.

In response to the closure of the strait, Trump ordered a naval blockade that, in his own words, will remain in full force and effect until the complete removal of the mines is confirmed.

During that period, 19 ships had been ordered to turn back due to the threat of mines in the waters of the strait.

In a series of posts on his Truth Social network, Trump took the opportunity to distribute praise and criticism among those involved in the crisis.

He expressed special gratitude to the Gulf countries for their great courage and assistance during the crisis, and highlighted their role in maintaining regional stability.

In contrast, the head of the White House launched a harsh attack against the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), accusing its members of being useless when needed, a paper tiger, which represents one of his most direct assaults on the western military alliance.

Trump also commented on Israel in his posts, with a strong message: Israel will not bomb Lebanon again. They are PROHIBITED, a statement that marks a significant shift in U.S. policy toward its main ally in the Middle East.

Regarding the Iranian nuclear program, Trump stated that most of the points have already been negotiated, suggesting that a broader agreement with Iran could be on the horizon, although he did not provide specific details about the terms or the timeline for its conclusion.
