President Donald Trump published a powerful message on his platform Truth Social this Friday, stating that Israel will no longer bomb Lebanon, concluding his post with a strong: "Enough already!"
"Israel will no longer bomb Lebanon. It has been PROHIBITED from doing so by the U.S. Enough already!" wrote Trump, using capital letters to emphasize the prohibition.
The announcement comes a day after Trump declared a ten-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which took effect this Friday, following phone conversations with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In the same message, Trump also referenced the ongoing nuclear agreement with Iran, asserting that the United States will obtain all the "nuclear dust" generated by the U.S. B-2 bombers over Iranian facilities, without any exchange of money whatsoever.
"The U.S. will obtain all the 'nuclear dust' created by our great B-2 bombers. No money will be exchanged in any way, shape, or form," wrote Trump, further clarifying that this agreement "is not subject to Lebanon."
However, the leader specified that Washington will work "separately" with Lebanon to handle "the Hezbollah situation appropriately."
On Thursday, Trump had spoken of "a historic day for Lebanon."
He also expressed his hope that Hezbollah "will act well and correctly," warning that "it will be a GREAT moment for them if they do."
He emphasized the diplomatic progress that preceded the ceasefire: "I just had excellent conversations with the highly respected President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon and Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu of Israel," and added that "both parties want to see peace, and I believe it will happen quickly."
The leader also reminded that last Tuesday, the first direct diplomatic talks between Israel and Lebanon in 34 years took place in Washington, facilitated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with the ambassadors of both countries in a two-and-a-half-hour meeting.
Now, the prohibition against Israel comes after weeks of unprecedented regional escalation.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon escalated on March 2, when the Shia militia fired projectiles at Israel in response to Operation Epic Fury, the joint attack by the U.S. and Israel against Iranian nuclear facilities that began on February 28.
Since then, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have resulted in at least 2,089 deaths, thousands of injuries, and over one million displaced people.
On the same day that Trump announced the ceasefire, the Israeli army destroyed 70 infrastructures in Bint Jbeil, in southern Lebanon, in just one minute, illustrating the intensity of the conflict that Washington is now seeking to halt.
Netanyahu stated that Israel's goals are "the dismantling of Hezbollah's weapons and a real peace agreement that lasts for generations," while Aoun expressed his hope to achieve "an agreement on a ceasefire in Lebanon, with the aim of initiating direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel."
Trump also invited Netanyahu and Aoun to the White House for what would be the first meaningful conversations between the two countries since 1983, concluding with a phrase that encapsulates his vision of the moment: "It has been an honor for me to resolve nine wars in the world, and this will be the tenth, so let’s do it!"
